The Junior Knight Football Program has been building tough, confident football players since 2001 - and chances are, the Luther High varsity players you see under the Friday Night Lights started right here!

If you are entering 7th or 8th grade in the 2026-27 school year, this is your chance to step into real tackle football.  You'll learn the game from coaches who love football and want to help you get stronger, faster, and smarter on the field - whether you've never played before or you've been throwing spirals since first grade.

You'll practice and play on the actual Luther High School Fields, learn the skills and terminology used at the high school level, and compete in weekly games - just like real varsity players.

What to expect?

• 2 practices per week  (starting the week of August 17 - updated)

• 1 game per week   (September through October 13)

• Home games on the Luther High School game field

• All players are provided a mouthguard.

• Program cost will be $175.00 and includes rental of the following equipment:  helmet, shoulder pads, pants, game and practice jersey, and knee pads.  Participants are required to purchase a football "girdle". Cost for this is approximately $40.   All players should have football cleats

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME 4TH-6TH GRADE FOOTBALL?

We have an exciting new opportunity that will be available to boys in grades 4-6 starting this fall season.  In conjunction with the Morrie Miller Youth Football League, we will offer an introductory tackle football experience for our Luther Association youth.   This football experience would provide instruction to learn fundamental football skills and a chance to participate in competitive games, emphasizing safety and sportsmanship.  This league is great for beginners!

We have had tremendous interest in this program and have filled 27 of the 30 available slots for this season.  Registrations for these remaining three spots will be filled on a first come - first served basis.

What to expect?

• We will have two teams.  One comprised of 4th and 5th graders (JV) and one comprised of 5th and 6th graders (Varsity).    The 5th graders will be divided using criteria established by the Morrie Miller Youth Football program.

• Practices begin August 24 and will take place at Luther High School.   We are currently working on a practice schedule.  It will be sent to all registrants as soon as it is finalized.

• Expect three practices a week during the first two weeks and then two practices a week for the remainder of the season.

• Games are played on Saturdays in Winona.   Game dates are September 12, 19, 26 and October 3, 10, 24.    There are no games played on October 17.   The October 24 date are the championship games.   Opponents are based on season results.
